A look back at our preseason predictions
North Texas finished the regular season with a win over Rice. Three of four of MeanGreen247's preseason predictions about UNT's season came true.
The Mean Green's passing attack improved from the second to last passing offense in Conference USA in 2021 to the fourth in 2022. The return of Jyaire Shorter and increased production of the tight end position boosted the offense. Roderic Burns led the team in receiving yards with 644.
UNT's defense will take another step forward under Phil Bennett.
North Texas' defense didn't take a step forward during the season. The team's defense played well at times and awful at others. It was the worst performance against UNLV in September and the best at WKU. On Saturday, the team came up big in the final game against Rice.
Aune was named the starter for the season.
Austin Aune has had a stellar season for North Texas. He is now tied with Mason Fine for the program record in single season passing touchdowns with 31. Ane is likely to retire at the end of the season. He has 3,115 passing yards for 31 touchdowns in the regular season this year.
The MeanGreen247 predicted a 7-5 record and an appearance in the C-USA championship. The team won over WKU and lost to UNLV.
