A Sports Betting Proposal Heads to the Vermont Legislature
Sports betting is legal in New York and New Hampshire, but not in Vermont. The state's Sports Betting Study Committee held its final meeting on Tuesday. Its report to lawmakers is due on December 15. Sen. Kesha Ram Hinsdale (D-Chittenden) is concerned about problem gambling. The study committee recommended initially allowing betting online only. It also recommended issuing licenses to between two and six online-only sports betting operators selected through a competitive bidding process. New Jersey's three retail sports gambling locations contribute just 20 percent of the state gambling revenue.
