Abrams leans into legalizing sports betting in Georgia as Kemp's lead widens

Stacey Abrams is running for governor in Georgia. She's running ads that focus on her support for legalizing sports betting. The ads are timed to the start of college football season. Gov. Brian Kemp has opposed sports gambling since 2018. At least 31 states have legalized sports betting since the Supreme Court ruling. California could be next. If voters decide on two measures that will appear on the November ballot, sports bets could become legal there. It's also possible that California will be the next state to do so. In the last four years, bills that would legalize sportsbetting in the state have stalled in state Legislature.
