The first Sunday in October means just one thing, Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe day. Europe's most prestigious flat race was first staged at Paris-Longchamp in 1920, and has been won by true greats like Corrida, Mill Reef, Treve and Enable.

Let's take a look through the current Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe betting and run through the likely runners.

Jean-Claude Rouget won his first Arc with Sottsass in 2020 and he'll be hoping to see Ace Impact follow in his former stablemate's footsteps. Ace Impact has enjoyed an unbeaten three-year-old campaign, including victories in the Prix du Jockey Club and the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano and most bookies list Rouget's runner as the firm favourite.

Hukum held off Westover to win a star-studded renewal of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes earlier in the season and both will fly the flag for Britain in the 2023 Arc. Aidan O'Brien is solely represented by St Leger winner Continuous, who was supplemented into the race by Ballydoyle earlier this week.

Ace Impact is joined in the field by Pascal Barry's Feed The Flame, despite a shock defeat on his prep-run in the Prix Niel. Sebastian Wattel's Simca Mille claimed his first Group One win in the Preis Von Berlin earlier in the season. Recent Prix Foy winner, Place Du Carrousel and 2022 Grand Prix de Paris winner, Onesto represent home connections.

John and Thady Gosden will pin their hopes on Free Wind, who'll be ridden by Frankie Dettori on his final appearance in the Arc. Sir Michael Stoute's Bay Bridge proved his stamina with victory in the September Stakes at Kempton. Jessica Harrington will step Sprewell back in up distance, following a poor effort in the Irish Champion Stakes.

Tomohito Ozeki's Through Seven Seas makes the trip over from Japan for the 2023 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Germany will be represented by Henk Grewe's duo of Mr Hollywood and Sisfahan. Adrien Fouassier's Haya Zark completes the field.
