Golden Sixty propels his horse racing earnings to millions
Golden Sixty is probably one of the most prolific horses in the equestrian arena. Foaled in 2015, the Australian-bred Thoroughbred horse is undoubtedly the most successful equine in the Hong Kong racing arena. He was sold for $88,400 as a 2-year-old in 2017 at the Magic Millions’ Gold Coast Yearling Sale. And boy oh boy, did he live up to the ‘Magic Millions’ quote. The multiple grade 1 winning stallion has garnered $21.24m in earnings through his 6-year career.
World Horse Racing revealed the astonishing earnings of Golden Sixty, posting a throwback video of him being auctioned in 2017. “Where it started…GOLDEN SIXTY sells for AUD$120,000 (USD$88,400) at the 2017 @mmsnippets Gold Coast Yearling Sale Yesterday, his earnings soared to HKD$165.85m (USD$21.24m)!”, the caption of the X post read. With his half-sister set to be auctioned in the same ring next month, all eyes will be on it. The rise in Golden Sixty’s earnings came after his dominant victory at the G1 Longines Hong Kong Mile.
Golden Sixty wins another Grade 1 race
Before this Sunday’s momentous victory, Golden Sixty had last raced at the G1 Champions Mile. However, given the champion equine he is, the three-time Hong Kong Horse of the Year absolutely dominated the G1 Longines Hong Kong Mile. After being sent away as the 13-10, he notched up his record-tying 3rd Mile victory.
With this triumph, Golden Sixty improves his already stellar flat turf record of 25 wins from 30 career starts, including 10 Grade 1 races. Golden Sixty was named the Hong Kong Horse of the Year for the last three seasons. An owner’s dream horse, he undoubtedly is worth the millions.
