Alexander Zverev vs Grigor Dimitrov Prediction

Alexander Zverev will meet Grigor Dimitrov in the Round of 16 at the 2023 French Open. The match will be played on Monday June 5th, 2023. 

Alexander Zverev famously suffered a horrific injury last year and has struggled to regain his form and confidence since. However, he looks to be back to his best in this year's edition, playing incredible tennis to upset 12th seeded Frances Tiafoe in the Third Round. Serving well and being aggressive from both wings, he did not look like the player that he has been this entire season, and definitely seemed to be confident. This spells bad news for his next opponent Grigor Dimitrov, who will know full well what the German is capable of. It is too early to fully trust Zverev again, but he certainly is trending fast in the right direction at the right time. 

Grigor Dimitrov has almost unrivalled experience, and he will need all of it here if he is to prolong his stay here at the 2023 French Open. The Bulgarian crushed the in-form Daniel Altmaier 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 in the Third Round, controlling to match from the baseline with his precision. He definitely has the game to be able to win here, but will have to lower his error count, especially if Zverev plays as he has been. Mixing it up is the key here for Dimitrov, as you simply cannot allow Zverev to get in a rhythm and grow in confidence. 

I am expecting Alexander Zverev to win here, and move on to the Quarter-Finals here at the 2023 French Open. I certainly didn't expect this level of tennis from him here, but he has been on fire, dominating his opponents. The one area that he will have to focus on is his serve. While he has been serving well, he has been hitting far too many double faults and that isn't a good idea against an experienced opponent such as Grigor Dimitrov who can take full advantage. It'll be an interesting match, but I don't see Zverev losing this one here at Roland Garros.
