Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction 7-30-23 MLB Picks

The Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet in the rubber match of their three-game MLB interleague series from Chase Field on Sunday. Who will emerge from the series as the winner? Let’s dive in and find out.

Mariners Fall Apart on Saturday

Seattle looked like they were going to be in good shape for another win on Saturday with an early 3-0 lead, but that’s all the damage the Mariners would do as Arizona rallied for a 4-3 win in Saturday’s matchup. Seattle had their chances in the 9th inning, but Arizona’s bullpen, which had been questionable in a lot of recent games, managed to slam the door shut. The loss dropped Seattle to 53-51 on the year, sitting 5.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race, and 6.5 games back in the AL West. Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 106 hits and 17 home runs while Teoscar Hernandez has 16 home runs along with 58 RBIs for the Mariners this season. Eugenio Suarez has 14 homers of his own along with a team-high 63 RBIs as well. J.P. Crawford also has a .261 batting average and a .371 OBP this season. Luis Castillo will start for the Mariners here and is 6-7 with a 3.02 ERA and 142 strikeouts this season.

Diamondbacks Sneak One Out on Saturday

The Arizona Diamondbacks had a lot of lows in recent games, but managed to have the bounces go their way in Saturday’s win over the Mariners. The win propelled the D-Backs to 56-49 on the year, sitting 4 games back in the NL West race while sitting just a half game back in the NL Wild Card race. Christian Walker leads the Diamondbacks with 22 home runs and 68 RBIs while Ketel Marte has a team-high 112 hits and a .296 batting average. Corbin Carroll also has 21 home runs and is the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year in the National League. Merrill Kelly will start for Arizona here and is 9-4 with a 3.12 ERA and 103 strikeouts this season.

Chris’ Pick

I’m looking at the under here. Runs have been hard to come by in this series, and Saturday’s game was a battle with a lot of zeroes on the board and we have a much better pitching matchup on Sunday than what we had in Saturday’s matchup. Castillo and Kelly have top-tier stuff for their respective rotations and I could easily see a first to four or even first to three wins kind of game. Give me the under.
