Around The Tracks: A tip for each meeting on Saturday 15 July

Timeform provide a selection for each of the seven meetings due to take place in Britain and Ireland on Saturday.

Desert Voice is a filly firmly on the up for William Haggas and looks on a good mark to complete a hat-trick at the foot of the weights in this mile contest. She has won her last two starts over seven furlongs, following up a ready maiden success at Yarmouth when improving again to win at Doncaster on her handicap debut, travelling well and keeping on to beat Prairie Falcon half a length. Running off just a 3 lb higher mark here and with Adam Farragher taking 3 lb off her back, she can go in again.

First Of May offered plenty of encouragement when third on her debut at Leicester last October and she stepped forward on that to get off the mark in an all-weather novice at Newcastle in December. She was next seen at Wolverhampton in May and could hardly have created a better first impression in handicaps, looking well ahead of her mark as she cruised two and a half lengths clear in the straight. First Of May, who is out of a daughter of multiple Group 1 winner Soviet Song, scored in the style of a useful sprinter and looks up to defying a 10 lb rise in the weights. Her chance is helped by the good form of the James Fanshawe yard, while deteriorating conditions aren't a concern as she's by Mayson and ran well on heavy ground on her debut.

Lightly-raced four-year-old Real Dream has improved with each run for Sir Michael Stoute and this Ebor entry looks sure to progress further stepping up to a mile and three quarters for the first time. Real Dream missed the second half of his three-year-old campaign after winning a maiden at Doncaster, but returned from almost twelve months off and a breathing operation in the interim to make a winning handicap debut at Kempton in May. Real Dream was then beaten in a more competitive race at York a fortnight later but still looked a bit raw in finishing third to Scampi, though finished well, giving the impression that this longer trip will suit.

Bright Legend showed promise in a couple of starts at the Curragh in the spring and can resume on an upward curve in this minor event for Fozzy Stack. He was held back by inexperience on his debut but his dam stayed well and he fared much better when upped to a mile and a quarter next time. Bright Legend still looked green but the fact that he was still able to win despite that, travelling well and staying on to lead near the line, suggests he has scope to do better still. They finished well strung out too, with runner-up Young Ireland, who was beaten three quarters of a length, advertising the form by finishing second recently in a listed race.

Although she’s been given joint-top weight for her nursery debut, Onigiri doesn’t look at all badly treated judged on her strong debut form for Marco Botti. That came at Redcar in May where she was prominent in the betting and had a bit in hand at the finish when beating Geologist a neck with Mapmaker in third. All three fillies went on to run at Royal Ascot, and while none of them made an impact there, both the placed horses have won in lesser company since. That bodes well for Onigiri who finished in rear in the Queen Mary Stakes but has the physical scope to put that behind her.

Mlle Chanel produced her best effort yet when third on her handicap debut at Ascot last time and she can have that performance marked up a bit as she came from further back than ideal in a race run at a steady tempo. Mlle Chanel, who remains relatively unexposed over a mile and a quarter, looks well treated off the same mark that she competed from at Ascot.

Ibrahimovic has been placed in all three of his starts this year for Michael Bell but has bumped into some smart types along the way and looks to have his best chance of getting his head in front for the first time in this handicap. He was third to subsequent Royal Ascot winner Waipiro on his reappearance in a novice at Newmarket and then came up against Ballydoyle colt Tower of London when upped in trip for the Ulster Derby at Down Royal last time. Ibrahimovic was no match for that colt, even in receipt of more than a stone in weight, but can continue on the up in this lower-grade handicap.
