Daniil Medvedev is the favorite to win the Australian Open after he beat Novak Djokovic in the U.S. Open in September. Rafael Nadal is also a favorite, but he has not won in Melbourne since 2009. Nadel will play Matteo Berrettini in one of the semifinals. Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Medvesev in other semifinal. The semifinals will be played on Thursday night and Friday morning in eastern time zone.

Rafael Nadal is a 20-time major winner. He has five hard-court Grand Slam titles. Nadel beat Matteo Berrettini on the New York hard court in the semifinal stage in 2019. Berretini has been a consistent threat on Grand slam stage over the last 12 months. The Italian reached the Wimbledon final and the final eight at the French and U.S. Opens. All but one of Berritini's five matches in Australia have gone four or five sets.

Tsitipa won his quarterfinals match against Jannik Sinner. The Russian has a 6-2 advantage in their series, but Tsittipos won two of the last three meetings.
