Australian Trainers' Association rails against Racing Victoria non-acceptance fee threat

Racing Victoria is considering charging a non-acceptance fee for horse nominations. The association is concerned about the current ratio between nominations and acceptances. It is estimated the fee could be as high as $60 for a city meeting. The current system costs Racing Australia $1m a year. Australian Trainers Association president Robbie Griffiths wants to improve the ratio. He believes early notification on barriers will help improve it. News Corp understands non acceptance would cost up to $30 for country meetings and $50 for city meetings.
