Avalanche vs Predators Picks, Predictions, and Odds Tonight

The Colorado Avalanche have the Central Division crown in their sights as they visit the Nashville Predators, who are playing for nothing but pride tonight. Our NHL betting picks believe the red-hot Avs will keep the pedal to the metal.

The Colorado Avalanche have the opportunity to win the Central Division tonight as they head into Nashville to take on the Predators.

The Avs have been soaring as the season has winded down, going 8-1-1 in their last 10 games, although they did receive some sad news that they will be battling in the playoffs without their captain — Gabriel Landeskog — due to injury.

The Predators are coming off of an overtime win last night, and they would love to finish out the season on a high note on home ice. But in reality, they aren’t playing for much at all.

Avalanche vs Predators best odds

Avalanche vs Predators picks and predictions

The Colorado Avalanche have been extremely explosive in the offensive end as of late, and it is all because of Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. Both them have hit the century mark in points this season, as MacKinnon has 107 and Rantanen has 103. They have both caught fire in this recent 10-game stretch, with MacKinnon tallying nine goals with eight assists in this span, and Rantanen gathering seven goals along with ten assists in the same frame.

The Predators' group of forwards isn’t nearly as talented as Colorado's, but Cody Glass and Thomas Novak have been able to produce for the team lately. That being said, they don’t pose a very big threat to the Avalanche blue line. In the last seven meetings between the two teams, the Avs are 7-0, and they have gone 7-2 in the last nine meetings in Nashville.

The concern for Nashville in this game is their offensive production. The Preds are the fifth-worst offensive team in the league, only scoring 2.72 goals per game. Not only will they have to slow down the Avs, but they’ll need to find ways to light the lamp themselves.

Colorado should be able to bring a strong effort tonight to close out the season and take the division. I think they get the job done in regulation.

Avalanche vs Predators moneyline analysis

It is very respectable that the Predators were able to scratch and claw their way through the season with all of the adversity they had as far as injuries.

The Predators will be playing without a ton of key players like Filip Forsberg, Matt Duchene, Ryan Johansen. Their captain — Roman Josi — is questionable as of right now. No disrespect to the guys on the roster, but this team is not very scary on paper.

Colorado has some key players missing as well, like Cale Makar and Landeskog, but this team has adjusted to those two being out of the lineup since it's been the case for most of the season.

Neither team has announced a starting goalie as of yet, but in my opinion, this game is all about the offense, which is a clear-cut advantage for the Avalanche.

Colorado should take this one.

Avalanche vs Predators Over/Under analysis

The Avalanche have been consistently playing in some high-scoring games lately, as the Over has hit in six of their last eight overall. It has also hit in each of their last four road games, along with three of their last four games against Central Division opponents.

There is certainly a trend going on here, but that trend happens to be the complete opposite for Nashville. In the Preds' last six games, the Under has hit four times. But when these two teams get together, the Over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.

The Avalanche love to play a north-south game and they are very offensive-minded. I could see this game being one-sided in their favor.

I’d lean with the Over.
