Ballon d'Or 2024 odds as Jude Bellingham battles Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland

Former Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham has emerged as the favourite for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

Goalhave placed the Real Madrid superstar at the top of their power rankings while bookmakers also have Bellingham as the most likely winner of the award next year. Bellingham has taken his game to new heights with the La Liga giants after an excellent spell with Borussia Dortmund.

Lionel Messi won this year's accolade for a record-extending eighth time after leading Argentina to the World Cup in Qatar. The former Barcelona man also bagged 16 goals and 16 assists for Paris Saint Germain as they won Ligue 1 and is now scoring for fun with Inter Miami in America.

Bellingham finished 18th in the Ballon d’Or standings this year but won the Kopa Trophy for the world's leading young player. He has scored 13 goals in as many games for Real.

Behind the 20-year-old in Goal's power rankings is Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. Mbappe was arguably an Emi Martinez leg away from beating Messi to this year’s title as that would have seen his country lift the World Cup on the back of a hat-trick from the forward.

Manchester City’s Haaland could also count himself unfortunate to miss out with 52 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions. The striker won a treble with his club last year, including the Champions League, but ended up in second place.

The bookies, meanwhile, also believe Blues academy graduate Bellingham has the strongest chance of winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or. “With the Messi and Ronaldo era of Ballon d’Ominance slowly drawing to a close – despite the Argentine winning his record eighth gong this week – we make England midfielder Jude Bellingham the early favourite to win the 2024 award.

“The Real Madrid sensation is 11/4 with us to taste victory in France next year, ahead of home favourite Kylian Mbappe (4/1) and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (9/2), whilst current holder Messi is 8/1 to secure his ninth title.”
