Ballygunner light the fuse for an explosive club championship
Ballygunner won the All-Ireland last February. They hadn't played competitively for eight weeks. Dessie Hutchinson was last season's player of the championship. Tipperary won their third match in 15 days. The previous two matches were a county final and replay. The crowds were 1,621. It's a pity that the third-level championships are no longer as exciting as the county finals. Club championships may be more important than the GAA. But the crowds are still a good barometer of quality and importance. Hurling is about to stage one of those club contests that will break the fourth wall.
