Barcelona, Atletico Madrid crash out, Club Brugge seize their chance and a new star emerges in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

The Champions League group stage concluded on Wednesday evening. Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham won their groups. Liverpool came second in their group. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were knocked out of the competition. Club Brugge beat the odds to go through. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been signed by Khachikova.

Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge have crashed out of the Champions League. Club brugger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has emerged as a new star. Barcelona lost 3-0 to Bayern Munich in the Europa League group stage. Atleti finished bottom of Group B. Pedri, a 19-year-old midfielder, called the group stages a failure.

Atleti lost 2-2 to Bayer Leverkusen last week. They twice came from behind to make it 2, then received a lifeline after the final whistle. Yannick Carrasco had a penalty saved and Reinildo's shot was deflected. Sevilla also failed to get out of Group G. Spain is left with Real Madrid as its only knockout-stage representative.

English sides all progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League. Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham were the only English sides to have a difficult group stage. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge crashed out. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has emerged as a new star in Belgium. He scored a late winner against Marseille.

Brugge have made history by reaching the last 16 of the Champions League. They finished second in their group behind Porto. Their goalkeeper Simon Mignolet made 30 saves in the group stage. The team is made up of young players.  Bruge had never previously reached the knockout stage of a Champions league. It is a historic achievement for them. Carl Hoefkens is proud of his team. He believes they can make it difficult for any team in Europe. Brugges have no fewer than seven starters aged 23 or under. There are three teams in Group B: Atletico Madrid, Portos and Leverkusen.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been a revelation at Napoli this season. Jurgen Klopp is impressed with him. Kvara has helped Napolo reach the Champions League knockout stage ahead of Liverpool. He has six goals and five assists in Serie A. He was previously a player for Lokomotiv Moscow and Rubin Kazan. His stadium is named after the late Diego Maradona.

Lionel Messi is still without a Champions League winners medal since 2015. He has scored four goals and made four assists in the Champions league this season. In Ligue 1, he has seven goals, 10 assists and a goal difference of 7.5. Messi turns 36 next year. Rumours of a potential move to Inter Miami are circling. PSG lost top spot in Group H to Benfica on Wednesday night.

Juventus have been humiliated in their Champions League group stage. They have just three points from six games and have qualified for the Europa League. Max Allegri hopes his players will channel their frustration into Serie A performances. They are currently seventh in Serie. Juventus lost 2-1 to PSG on Wednesday.
