Bears vs. Saints Predictions, Picks & Odds Week 9

The New Orleans Saints host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, as we make our best Bears vs. Saints predictions based on the best NFL odds.

After leading the Chicago Bears to a 30-12 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in his first NFL start, Tyson Bagent fell back down to earth on Sunday night. He was 25-of-37 for 232 yards and two interceptions, as his team fell 30-13.

The New Orleans Saints ended a two-game losing streak, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 38-27 to get back to .500 on the year. The Saints put up over 500 yards of total offense in the win.

To accompany our NFL Player Props for Week 9 and our NFL Upset Picks, here is our best Bears vs. Saints prediction and our NFL picks (odds via our best NFL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Bears vs. Saints prediction

Saints -7.5 (-110 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a brutal matchup for Bagent and the offense. The Saints are allowing just 189.5 passing yards per game, which is seventh-best in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Bears are the seventh-worst passing team in the NFL, and that was with Justin Fields under center for six games.

While the Bears are averaging 132.8 rushing yards per game, their backfield is a mess right now. They don’t have Fields or Khalil Herbert, and their backfield by committee struggled against the Los Angeles Chargers last week. The Saints haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher this season, so at the end of the day, we struggle to see how the Bears are going to score points.

The Saints’ offense is top 10 in the league in passing yards per game. Their strength plays right into the weakness of the Bears’ defense. The Bears have the third-worst passing defense in the NFL, allowing 262.3 yards through the air per game.

We expect big games from Derek Carr, Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Alvin Kamara in the passing game. The Saints have scored 24 or more points in three of their last four, going over 30 twice. The Bears have allowed 20 points in all but one game this year. We don’t see a way that the Bears keep up with the Saints to stay within a score.

Bears vs. Saints best odds

While four of the five best sports betting apps have this spread listed at -8.5, Caesars has it listed at -7.5.

Caesars is an easy play right now, but we recommend you get in as soon as possible. Since the other sportsbooks already have this number at 8.5, it won’t be long before Caesars follows suit. We’d take the Saints up to 9.5, so there is still plenty of wiggle room, but with how this line is already moving, this could be a double-digit spread by Sunday.

Bears vs. Saints odds

The Saints opened as 5.5-point favorites, but the spread has flown past the key number and now sits at 8.5 at four of the five best sports betting sites. At this time, 67% of wagers back the Saints. With Bagent playing poorly and each of the Saints' last two wins coming by at least 11 points, we think this spread will continue to grow rather than dropping back toward the key number of seven.

The total for this game opened at 41, and it hasn’t moved despite 61% of bets backing the Over. The Bears have been a great Over team this season, with six of their eight games going Over the posted total. The Saints have seen just two games go Over, but those two results came in the last two weeks. Because of that, we expect this number to climb as high as 42.
