Best bets for Tuesday’s meeting at Ballarat on the synthetic track

The Ben and JD Hayes-trained Private Island has played bridesmaid at her two career starts but can break through at Ballarat on Tuesday.

BEST BET

PRIVATE ISLAND (Race 2 No.7)

Runner up at both her starts but can go one better here. Should be rock hard fit dropping slightly in trip to 1400m and looks to have a bit of class.

NEXT BEST

SAILOR’S RUM (Race 4 No.11)

Son of Merchant Navy that was game in defeat first-up when going hard out in front. Expect him to derive plenty of benefit for the effort and have a bit more gas in the tank at the business end second-up.

I AM CAVIAR (Race 6 No.2)

Black Caviar’s son that is flying this campaign. Had no luck when working out wide two starts ago then bounced back last time out at this track and trip. Can win again.

VALUE BET

WAVE THE WAND (Race 1 No.9)

Think Wave The Wand can be an improver on the synthetic track following a forgive run first-up in unsuitable conditions. Wasn’t far off in a tougher maiden than this when second-up last campaign and can run well at a big price.

JOCKEY - Jake Duffy

Pilots the best bet and has a few more winning chances.

CONSTANT REIGN (R1 No.6 - $101), PRIVATE ISLAND (R2 No.7 - $2.50), GIULIANO (R3 No.4 - $5), BULLET RIDER (R5 No.1 - $6), CONTROVERSIAL MISS (R7 No.12 - $51), EASY ROAD (R8 No.2 - $51)
