Jett Hatton's best bets for Rosehill, Eagle Farm and Sandown

The Brisbane carnival is heating up and I'm keen to take on the favourite in the Victory Stakes following a super run behind the best sprinter in the land.

A CASE OF YOU (Eagle Farm Race 8 No 2)

Private Eye is top class but so is this import from the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr yard, that won the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint last year, and at the odds I'd much rather side with him coming off a positive run whereas Private Eye was a non event in the TJ Smith. Not much went his way in the William Reid Stakes when held up until 150m out but he exploded late to run fifth behind superstar Imperatriz – the best sprinter in the land in my opinion. He can win this on his way to the Doomben 10,000 and $51 for The Everest in futures markets is a good bet. BET: WIN

NAVAJO PEAK (Rosehill Race 6 No 7)

Since transferring to David Payne this horse has only missed a place twice in nine starts with four of those being wins. Back from Queensland after a dominant win in the Gold Coast Stakes and comes here rock hard fit fourth-up. With not much pace I expect he can cross them to lead and the last time he saw a heavy track, King Frankel couldn't run him down so it won't bother him if it gets that way. Best bet of the day. BET: WIN

AIR TO AIR (Rosehill Race 8 No 11)

Was keen on her last week in the Hawkesbury Crown but as a fourth emergency she was long odds on getting a run so comes here instead. Now in the care of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, her barrier manners looked to have improved and was a strong winner first-up despite covering a stack of ground. Wide draw but goes back anyway. BET: EACH-WAY

THE GUAVA (Sandown Race 6 No 8)

Market looks to have missed this horse resuming off the back of some solid jump outs. Ran some good races last campaign without winning and the best of those probably came first-up when making a stack of ground through the ruck behind the talented Red Card. Gets way down in the weights following the 3kg claim for Laura Lafferty and may just run over the top of them. BET: EACH-WAY

CARDINAL GEM (Sandown Race 9 No 1)

Here's the best bet in Melbourne. Grahame Begg is flying this season and Cardinal Gem absolutely brained them last time out in the Victoria Handicap. His record at the trip is outstanding and showed his class when finishing alongside the likes of Overpass and Vilana in the Golden Eagle last year. Big weight to contend with but he's got a perfect barrier and a few extra gears on his rivals. BET: WIN
