Best Last-Minute Bets for College Football Week 12 Odds

One of the most important Week 12 college football games comes from the American Athletic Conference.

The SMU Mustangs and Memphis Tigers are two of four teams vying for the pair of spots in the AAC Championship Game.

SMU is one of three programs with an undefeated mark in conference play, while Memphis is the lone team with one loss in league action.

The two typically high-powered offenses square off in Saturday's early window, which is headlined by seven ranked teams, including the Tulane Green Wave, who are tied at 6-0 in the AAC with SMU.

None of the early contests carry the same level of importance as SMU-Memphis and it could quickly turn into the game on your primary television because of its high-scoring potential.

The Week 12 card is more difficult to navigate as a whole compared to previous weeks due to the large amount of high point spreads, but there are some gems deeper on the card who could be more trustworthy than Top 25 squads.

SMU and Memphis are accustomed to putting up high totals.

The Mustangs eclipsed the 30-point mark in each of their six AAC victories. They also allowed 52 points in the last two weeks.

Memphis' last three contests featured both sides scoring at least 38 points. It produced point totals of 44, 45 and 59 in those victories.

Both programs have quarterbacks with more than 2,500 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes and Memphis running back Blake Watson is 91 yards away from the 1,000-yard mark.

Preston Stone and Seth Henigan should move the ball with ease through the air, and if they each receive a bit of help on the ground, the game could easily cruise over the projected 64 points.

Memphis will be the more desperate side of the two since it can't afford a second conference loss, so it may take some risks on fourth down throughout the contest.

SMU needs to win to keep pace with Tulane and the UTSA Roadrunners, who won on Friday night. A win sets up the Mustangs to reach the AAC Championship Game with a Week 13 win over the Navy Midshipmen since Tulane plays UTSA next week.

The Northwestern Wildcats have been one of the biggest surprises of the college football season.

Most critics believed they would struggle after Pat Fitzgerald was fired right before the start of the season.

Northwestern enters Saturday's clash with the Purdue Boilermakers one win away from bowl eligibility.

The Wildcats will also be playing the first game since David Braun had the interim tag removed and was named the full-time head coach.

Northwestern could rally around that news to produce its sixth win of the season versus a Purdue squad that has been wretched away from West Lafayette.

Purdue is 0-4 on the road, lost all of those games by at least six points and suffered two double-digit defeats in its last two away contests.

A bet on the Jacksonville State Dolphins in Week 12 is strictly a fade of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs defense.

Louisiana Tech comes into Saturday with a five-game losing streak in which it conceded over 30 points on four occasions.

The Bulldogs' last two performances were their worst of the season, as they allowed 56 points to the Liberty Flames and gave up 42 points to the Sam Houston Bearkats.

Saturday also marks the end of the Louisiana Tech season. It has no hope of reaching a bowl at 3-8 so motivation could be hard to come by in a road game.

Jacksonville State is 5-1 with a +35 point differential in Conference USA play. The Gamecocks' only league loss came against Liberty and they put up over 30 points in four of their seven overall victories.

Rich Rodriguez's side could torch the La. Tech defense to pick up its eighth victory in its first FBS season.
