Pennington enters the octagon on a five-fight winning streak. Pennington is coming off a split decision over Ketlan Vieira, marking her 11th victory by a decision as a member of UFC.

The main event features Strickland attempting to defend his middleweight belt  for a second streaight time while Du Plessis is attempting to become the first South African to win be a UFC champion.

Like the women’s title bout, this championship fight expects to be fantastic, although there should be more fireworks in this one than Pennington versus Bueno Silva.

Strickland (28-5, 15-5) enters the match on a three-fight win streak. Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya in his first defense of his belt via unaminous decision to earn performance of the night.

It was the second straight fight that he has garnered the honor. Strickland has 15 career finishes and has been finished twice.

Du Plessis (20-2, 6-0 UFC) remained undefeated since joining the UFC with a second round knockout victory over Robert Whittaker in July, which earned him the performance of the night. Du Plessis has 19 finishes with nine knockouts and 10 submissions in his career.

Four of his six UFC victories have come prior to the third round. Both of Du Plessis’ losses has been via finishes.

Lean Du Plessis as a slight underdog. Du Plessis is the more aggressive fighter and powerful striker. Du Plessis also possesses an underrated ground game.
