Betano Daily Bets: Blues over 85.5 points & Capitals to miss playoffs

Tyler Yaremchuk joined Daily Faceoff Live for another Betano Daily Bets segment.

Tyler Yaremchuk:Betano.ca, and let’s jump into it.

Tyler Yaremchuk: I have a couple of future bets I want to discuss, and they are both over/under bets for the season. I think I’m going to start with the St. Louis Blues; I know goaltending can be a bit of a question mark for them this season, but maybe Steven Ellis is onto something, and Joel Hofer can be the guy to help them. I like taking a stab at the Blues to improve by five points this coming season. I think a team like Nashville could take a step back, and a team like Winnipeg could also take a step back, which leaves points on the board. I like St. Louis to have a bit of a bounce-back next year and go over the 85.5 mark.

I also like the Washington Capitals; maybe not to make the playoffs, but they finished with 80 points last year, and Spencer Carbery could give them a spark. Asking them to just get seven more points than last year doesn’t seem far-fetched and doesn’t seem like an insane bet, either. Frank, which bet between the two do you like more?

Frank Seravalli: I like the Blues over 85.5. The only tough part is laying -133 to do it. But I do think the Blues were in a tough spot last year; they had traded pieces away, and I think they made smart bets this year. I don’t know what Kasperi Kapanen is going to be, I don’t know what Jakub Vrana is going to be, maybe it’s very little, but I think that team underachieved last year, and there’s still room for Kyrou and Thomas to grow. I’d lay off the Caps, but I could also see them going, “Oh, we had 78 points.”
