Betr Slammed with a Fine for Promoting to an Excluded Player

Betr, a sports betting operator focusing on micro bets, has been fined in Australia for promoting to an excluded player. The player, Mr M, had excluded himself from gambling. Betr contacted MrM shortly after the latter had already excluded him from the gambling industry. The Northern Territory Racing Commission fined BetR $13,946. It ordered Betrs to double-check that a player is not excluded before contacting them about gambling products.

Mr M was banned from gambling. Anti-gambling activists believe a national register is needed to prevent gambling harm. Australia announced its intentions to implement such a scheme three years ago but it hasn't been implemented yet. The BetStop scheme will launch in the next months. The ACMA is already testing its security levels to make sure that customers’ data will be safe.
