$9.2 billion was spent on lotteries and sports bets in the last financial year. This is the largest sum placed on such bets for the past decade. $6.6 billion had been wagered in previous financial years. Private clubs operating gaming machine rooms have to educate patrons about responsible gambling and problem gambling. Mr Chua is responding to a parliamentary question.
