BETTING GUIDE: Who are the favourites to shine on the streets of Melbourne?

Red Bull have made a fast start to the year and will be looking to claim their third consecutive win this weekend in Melbourne – but what do the odds say about their chances of victory at the Australian Grand Prix?

188BET’s odds are presented in decimal form: for every $1 wagered you would win the figure represented by the odds; so if Verstappen is favourite at 1.50, you would win $1.50 for every dollar bet.

The odds for the win

Max Verstappen is the favourite ahead of team mate Sergio Perez to claim victory at Albert Park this week, with both drivers having won a race each so far this year – with Verstappen winning in Bahrain and Perez sealing victory in Saudi Arabia.

Last year’s Australian GP winner, Charles Leclerc, is given the fourth best odds to secure the win, ahead of Lewis Hamilton – who has won twice at Albert Park, back in 2008 and in 2015. Fernando Alonso, who has finished third in the opening two races, is third favourite for the win behind the two Red Bull racers.

  • Max Verstappen 1.35
  • Sergio Perez 5.50
  • Fernando Alonso 9.50
  • Charles Leclerc 19.0
  • Lewis Hamilton 26.0
  • Carlos Sainz, George Russell 34.0
  • Lance Stroll 151
  • Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly 301
  • Alex Albon, Kevin Magnussen, Lando Norris, Logan Sargeant, Nico Hulkenberg, Nyck de Vries, Oscar Piastri, Valtteri Bottas, Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu 901

The odds for who will be fastest in qualifying

Verstappen started second in last year's race, but is the odds-on favourite to qualify on pole this weekend, once again ahead of his Red Bull team mate, Perez.

Alonso – who won in Melbourne in 2006 – is the third favourite to seal a P1 start at Albert Park this weekend, while his Aston Martin team mate, Lance Stroll, is sixth in the odds to qualify at the front of the grid.

  • Max Verstappen 1.40
  • Sergio Perez 4.35
  • Fernando Alonso 9.00
  • Charles Leclerc 12.0
  • Carlos Sainz 34.0
  • Lance Stroll 41.0
  • George Russell, Lewis Hamilton 51.0
  • Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly 251
  • Kevin Magnussen, Lando Norris, Nico Hulkenberg 601
  • Alex Albon, Logan Sargeant, Nyck de Vries, Oscar Piastri, Valtteri Bottas, Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu 901

The odds for a podium finish

Verstappen, Perez, and Alonso are the only drivers to have stood on top of the podium so far this season and are currently the three favourites to meet at the top of the rostrum come Sunday afternoon.

Carlos Sainz is fifth in the odds to finish on the podium, ahead of Hamilton and George Russell. However, Alpine team mates Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, along with Stroll, have been given longer odds to finish in the top three in Melbourne.

  • Max Verstappen 1.20
  • Sergio Perez 1.40
  • Fernando Alonso 1.60
  • Charles Leclerc 2.40
  • Carlos Sainz 4.35
  • Lewis Hamilton 4.50
  • George Russell 5.50
  • Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly 51.0
  • Kevin Magnussen, Lando Norris, Nico Hulkenberg, Oscar Piastri 101
  • Valtteri Bottas 151
  • Alex Albon, Zhou Guanyu 201
  • Logan Sargeant, Nyck de Vries, Yuki Tsunoda 251

The odds for the fastest lap

Verstappen took the fastest lap last time out in Saudi Arabia and is considered the best bet to achieve this same feat in Australia, ahead of Perez and Alonso.

Along with the win, Leclerc also took the fastest lap point last season at Albert Park but is fourth in the odds to do the same this year, while home favourite Oscar Piastri has been given long odds to set the fastest lap this weekend.

  • Max Verstappen 2.10
  • Sergio Perez 4.35
  • Fernando Alonso 6.00
  • Charles Leclerc 7.00
  • Carlos Sainz, George Russell 17.0
  • Lance Stroll, Lewis Hamilton 26.0
  • Esteban Ocon, Lando Norris, Pierre Gasly 67.0
  • Oscar Piastri 151
  • Alex Albon, Kevin Magnussen, Nico Hulkenberg 201
  • Logan Sargeant, Nyck de Vries, Valtteri Bottas, Yuki Tsunoda, Zhou Guanyu 251

What are the odds for which team will take the most points?

Red Bull have taken the most points from each of the first two races – having also taken the maximum points available in Jeddah – and the championship leaders are considered clear front-runners to do the same again in Australia.

Aston Martin are second favourites ahead of Ferrari and Mercedes, while McLaren – who are yet to score any points this season – are tied for sixth with Haas in the odds.

  • Red Bull 1.05
  • Aston Martin 9.00
  • Ferrari 13.0
  • Mercedes 19.0
  • Alpine 251
  • Haas, McLaren 601
  • Alfa Romeo, Alpha Tauri, Williams 901

The odds for a Safety Car appearing during the race

The Safety Car made an appearance twice during last year’s race and the odds see it as more likely than not for it to be deployed again this weekend.
