Sporting expected to edge it on stats

Juventus hold a 1-0 advantage heading into the second leg but that scoreline does not tell the full story of the first game.

Sporting were actually the side who dominated in Turin on the evidence of expected goals (xG). The Portugues side had an xG of 1.66 from 15 shots (six on target) while Juve only managed three shots on target from nine efforts and an xG of 0.86.

Therefore, according to the stats, Sporting should have outscored Juve at a rate of almost 2:1.

At the Estádio José Alvalade this should play out as Sporting have won 15 of their 23 home games across all competitions this season. Juve’s win last week was sandwiched between two losses in the league so they rightly come into the game as underdogs.

Bet build on Sporting success

After outperforming their opponents in the first leg, we expect Sporting to dominate once again at home and have created a bet builder to reflect that.

Pedro Goncalves had three of Sporting’s six shots on target last week and the midfielder averages 1.09 shots on target per 90 minutes in the Primeira Liga this term.

We’re including him to have over 0.5 shots on target and to create some value we have also added striker Youssef Chermiti to pass the same mark.

The 18-year-old only made his professional debut in January but averages 1.13 shots on target per 90 minutes in the league this season and also had an effort on target in the first leg.

Finally, we have combined these two shot on target selections with Sporting to have over 6.5 corners. They managed nine corners in Turin and average 6.9 per match in the league this season.

Sporting CP vs Juventus tip 2: Pedro Goncalves over 0.5 shots on target, Youssef Chermiti over 0.5 shots on target and over 6.5 Sporting corners @ 4/1 with Unibet

Count on Coates card

There were just three cards shown in the first leg so we have erred on the side of caution this time around by selecting under 4.5 cards in this bet builder.

Juventus average 1.9 yellows per game in Serie A while Sporting are averaging just over 2.5 yellows per match in the league. If these averages play out this leg will land as it would have done last week.

While we do not expect this to be a game full of cards, Sporting captain Sebastian Coates is the man we see as most susceptible to picking up a yellow.

The former Liverpool centre-back has already been cautioned nine times in 37 games across all competitions this season, including twice in four Europa League appearances.

Coates has struggled against elite opposition in the past and could do so again this evening against Dusan Vlahovic.

Sporting CP vs Juventus tip 3: Under 4.5 total cards and Sebastian Coates to be carded @ 17/2 with Unibet
