Big 12 Bets: An Underdog, Lock, and Bad Bet For Week 13

One of the beautiful things about college football is the parity and chaos that we see each and every week. There are, after all, 22 moving parts on the field every time that the ball is snapped, and just one player out of place can change the course of a game, hell even a season, in just one play.

While watching football and understanding the nuances of what is going on takes a bit of experience, the real talent is in being able to put your money where your mouth is when it comes to betting on the world’s greatest sport.

Here are some betting trends you should pay attention to in Week 13 of Big 12 action, with an upset, a lock, and a bad bet to avoid on Saturday.

UNDERDOG TO WATCH: Texas Tech (+2) vs. Oklahoma

Texas Tech and Oklahoma come into this contest with identical 6-5 records after both secured bowl eligibility last week. The Red Raiders are set to break ground on their new stadium upgrades after the conclusion of this game as the program starts to transition into a new and exciting era. I’m not sure how much Texas Tech will miss Tyree Wilson in this game, but I know that Oklahoma might be down a couple of starting offensive linemen. Texas Tech could cover and win this game outright if a ball or two bounces their way, and with this being a night game in Lubbock, anything can happen.

Underdogs for 2022: 4-7 SU; 6-5 ATS

LOCK OF THE WEEK: No. 4 TCU (-10) vs. Iowa State

This game feels like it could get out of hand, but not necessarily because I think Iowa State is a bad team. In fact, I think the Cyclones are much better than their 4-7 record indicates. However, this game comes down to motivation and the Horned Frogs have everything to play for, while Iowa State has already been knocked out of bowl contention for the first time since 2016. TCU simply needs to take care of business against the Cyclones to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive and I think they will do just that on Saturday.

Locks for 2022: 5-6

BAD BET OF THE WEEK: Kansas (+11.5) vs Kansas State

The Kansas Jayhawks have been one of the best stories in college football this season, but there might not be many smiles on Saturday when they take on Kansas State for the Governer’s Cup. KU’s defense has been brutal of late and K-State’s offense is humming under the direction of Will Howard. I am leaning toward this game getting ugly, and I feel pretty confident about that pick. Stay away from the points even though this is a rivalry game. K-State rolls the Jayhawks and claims a bid in the Big 12 Championship game against TCU.
