Billie Jean King Cup: Great Britain lose to Australia in Glasgow

Great Britain lost the Billie Jean King Cup semi-final to Australia. Australia will play Switzerland or the Czech Republic in Sunday's final. Sam Stosur and Sanders won 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (5- 7) 10- 6 against Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls in the deciding doubles in Glasgow. Great Britain had a promising week, especially in doubles. They beat Kazakhstan and Spain in BJK Cup Finals. The team won the tournament. It was the first time Great British team had reached the semi finals. Their team captain Anne Keothavong said it hurts.

Great Britain have been the underdogs throughout the competition. They were put into a difficult group with Spain and Kazakhstan. Raducanu was ruled out with a wrist injury. Great Britain could have lost to Spain on Tuesday but they beat them 3-0. Dart was instrumental in that success. She produced one of the performances of her life to outplay Paula Badosa. On Saturday, she did the same against 33rd-ranked Tomljanovic.

Watson lost to Australia's Sanders in straight sets. Great Britain had played their previous two matches in the evening. The change to a morning start on Saturday made Watson feel tired. Watson was brilliant in Thursday's must-win group tie against Spain.
