Bills bets voided with playoff game is postponed? Each sportsbook’s rules

The moment the NFL announced a massive snowstorm and bitter cold would force the league to postpone the Bills-Steelers Wild Card game, bettors everywhere began to panic.

The winter weather was a major factor for many who placed wagers on the game — particularly as the over/under saw a historic drop in points. After opening at 43, the total fell to 34.5 points.

That’s now surely on its way back up as the game moves from Sunday at 1 p.m. ET to Monday at 4:30 p.m. ET.

But before bettors start celebrating it’s critically important to check the house rules of where you placed your bet to make sure the sportsbook doesn’t have the right to void the action.

Here’s how ESPN Bet, DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, BetMGM and more approach postponed games.

Games must start in the same scheduling week of the league (for NFL, the scheduling week is Thursday-Wednesday, local stadium time; for NCAA, the scheduling week is Tuesday-Monday, local stadium time) for bets to have action.

Abandoned or postponed games are void unless played within 48 hours. In the event of a change of venue, all bets will be void. All bets on a game that is officially deemed a forfeit will be void.

Unless otherwise specified, a typical NFL week/round schedule is considered as running from Thursday to the following Wednesday, as per local stadium time. Any events/offers not completed within the aforementioned timeframe will be settled as void, except for those offers the outcomes of which has already been decided and could not possibly be changed regardless of future events, which will be settled according to the decided outcome. Bets referring to events which have been rescheduled within the same week/round will remain valid as much as said events are played within the time frame above.

All NFL games must be held within 12 hours of the originally scheduled start time and at the scheduled venue when the bet was placed to be considered action, else bets will be cancelled. All other Football games and any games/events not specifically listed must be held within one week of the originally scheduled date and at the scheduled venue when the bet was placed to be considered action unless otherwise noted in the specific sports rules section or the inventory game page within the mobile application or web browser application. Please see Same Game Parlay Football Rules for Same Game Parlay Postponed Match, Cancelled Match and Venue Change Rules.

If a game is suspended or postponed, the game must be played within 7 days of the original scheduled date or wagers are void. The exception being the final/championship of a competition, in which case all wagers stand for the rescheduled game.

If there is a change of venue for an event, for any reason, wagers placed on this event prior to the location change announcement will be void.
