SGP predictions for Bills vs. Bengals

The NFL feels broken right now. Even the matchups that should inspire expectations of high-flying scoring between two quality offenses result in defensive dominance. The Dolphins-Chiefs matchup Sunday morning was the latest example, with the hyped clash better juggernaut offenses going Under a lofty 50.5-point total.

The Bengals are getting attention across the league because of Joe Burrow's improved play recently, and rightfully so. The Cincinnati gunslinger appears to be on the other side of his calf issue, again playing at the high level we've come to expect of the fourth-year pro.

But the Cincy defense deserves some love, too. The Bengals have held the Seahawks and 49ers to a combined 30 points over the past two weeks. In conjunction with Buffalo averaging below 21 points per game over its previous four contests, we don't think this game matches its on-paper appeal.

Bengals -2.5 (-108 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our rationale for believing in a more measured scoring pace is also a script that would benefit the Bengals. Cincinnati's defense has forced eight turnovers over its three consecutive wins, which could be a factor against an occasionally turnover-prone Josh Allen. That also factored into our Philip Wood's thinking in his Josh Allen vs. Joe Burrow player prop picks.

The other factor has simply been the explosiveness and consistency of the Bengal's offense lately. Putting up 82 combined points over the last three games sets us up to confidently bet Cincinnati, especially when considering how the defense has thrived while forcing takeaways.

The Bengals haven't been great while covering spreads at home (1-1-1 ATS), but we need to consider them differently based on their recent stretch with a healthier Burrow. The Bills are 1-2 against the spread in road games during 2023.

Burrow Over 1.5 touchdowns passes (-180 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

The Bills have fielded a pretty stout passing defense throughout this season, allowing an average of one passing touchdown to their opponents per game.

But this wager is simply a bet on Burrow to continue his recent pace. Burrow has tossed eight touchdowns over the past three games while clearing this line in each contest, including against the fierce San Francisco defense. Though he's only hit the mark in four of seven games in 2023, we're confident in ignoring the early-season struggles given his recent form.

Backing Burrow's TD prop boosts the overall odds of the SGP when combined with the game total going Under. We're threading the needle to get +525 at DraftKings, a superior value compared to FanDuel's +445 odds on the parlay.
