Blues vs Stars Picks, Predictions, and Odds Tonight

The Dallas Stars are a win away from sealing a Central Division title, and all that stands in their way is a St. Louis Blues team that's been ready to hit the links since the trade deadline. Our NHL betting picks expect few difficulties for Dallas tonight.

The Dallas Stars and the St. Louis Blues are set to play the second half of a home-and-home series on Thursday night.

Dallas got the best of the Blues in the first meeting, as they won by the score of 5-2 last night in St. Louis.

The Blues have absolutely nothing to play for, but the Stars can clinch first place in the Central division with a win tonight,

Blues vs Stars picks and predictions

The Dallas Stars have won both meetings thus far this season between the two teams, outscoring the St. Louis Blues by a total of 9-3.

The Stars completely dominated the game last night, and they have looked incredible in their recent stretch of games in preparation for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dallas is entering tonight’s game on a five-game winning streak, while going 8-2 in their last 10 overall.

The Blues have had a disastrous season, and it feels as though they are at the point where everyone in the organization is ready for the year to conclude. They have lost two games in a row, and they have struggled on the road this season.

One of the hardest things to do in the NHL is play on back-to-back nights. The Blues have struggled in this position, going 0-4 in their last four games playing on no rest.

The Stars should be able to take advantage of their fatigue, especially since Dallas has been so strong at home this season. Their first line of Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, and Joe Pavelski will look to stay hot and help clinch first place on home ice. The trio combined for two goals and three assists last night.

I think the Stars win this one in regulation.

Blues vs Stars moneyline analysis

The Stars' first line has been on absolute fire during the teams winning streak of five games. In this span, the three of them have combined for a total of 25 points. Robertson has tallied four goals with eight assists, Hintz has added three goals and three assists, while Pavelski has also contributed four goals and three assists.

The difference in this game is going to be special teams. This is the biggest weakness for the Blues, and it showed last night as they allowed three power play goals against on five attempts for the Stars. The Blues have the third-worst penalty kill in the entire league, which is a huge disadvantage considering that Dallas has the fourth-best power play.

If the Stars can get St. Louis to play undisciplined, the Blues don’t even stand a chance in this game. Dallas’ power play has been on the money in the last five games, converting on eight of their 16 attempts for a 50% rating in that span.

With the way this Stars team is clicking heading into the postseason, while having the chance to win the division at home, it should easily be their game to take.

Blues vs Stars Over/Under analysis

The Blues have been one of the worst defensive teams all year, allowing 3.67 goals against per game, meaning that the Stars should be able to continue their offensive production tonight.

Dallas has been scoring goals at will, tallying a combined 21 goals in their last five games. The Blues haven’t necessarily had their scoring touch lately, but they do have some talented players up front like Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, and Pavel Buchnevich

The Over is 4-0 for the Stars in their last fourth game in six nights situation, and it has also hit five times in their last eight games against Central Division opponents.

Jordan Binnington is getting the start in goal for St. Louis, and this has been a season that he will certainly want to forget. He enters this contest with a .892 SV% and a 3.35 GAA.

There should be a lot of goals in this one, regardless of who starts between the pipes for Dallas.
