Born By The Sea's biggest career win came at the 2021 Galway Festival as he bounded to victory in the Galway Blazers Handicap Chase off a mark of 130, but since then the Irish raider has struggled to replicate that effort. He lined up in the 2022 renewal of that same race last July, but could only finish fifth off a mark of 136. 

He was handed the unenviable task of lining up in the Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase at Cork on his next outing, where he came up against subsequent Champion Chase hero Energumene and he was a well beaten third over an inadequate trip that day. Stepped back up in trip for his next run at Leopardstown over the Christmas period he was way down the field in 18th in the Paddy Power Chase.

Tackling a Grade 3 event on his penultimate start he was yet again outclassed at Naas, so it's no surprise to see him available at big prices in the latest Grand National Odds and he will need to recapture some form to get anywhere near landing this prize at Aintree.

Heading to the Cheltenham Festival last month, he was a huge outsider for the Plate and he finished 14th, so he heads to Aintree on the back of some disappointing runs and he's going to face a tough ask against some proven top notch staying handicap chasers here.
