This should be a very interesting match up to watch, we have one team who are look into a playoff spot and fighting for one of the best 82 game seasons of all time going against a very desperate team fighting for a division title.

Boston Bruins

Boston come into Saturday on a good note after shutting out the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 on Thursday which snapped a bit of a losing streak for the Bruins. Jeremy Swayman was Boston’s best player making 35 saves.

Offense

The Bruins are the second best team in the NHL when it comes to goals scored per game averaging around 3.72 per game. They also make the opposition goalies work on a nightly basis as they average the 9th most shots per game. One of the big reasons they are so good offensively is their power play converts at almost 23 percent.

Defense

Bostons defense is #1 when it comes to goals allowed per game, giving up 2.16 per game they don’t allow the other team to shoot much on their goalies as they only allow 29 shots per game. They come into Saturday with the leagues best penalty kill sitting at 85%. Which is good because this Bruins team takes a lot of penalties.

Goaltending

Boston tends to share the net between 2 stellar goalies but after Jeremy Swayman’s performance on Thursday I would guess they will go back to him. He has had a very good season going 17-6-4 and posting 3 shutouts and .917 save. percentage.

Minnesota Wild

Minnesota will be coming into Saturday on a good note after defeating the St. Louis Blues in a wild game 8-5 on Wednesday night. Minnesota has been played good hockey of late though, going 7-0-3 over their last 10 and are fighting for every point to keep hopes alive for a division title.

Offense

Offensively the Wild are a little bit below middle of the league when it comes to scoring. Only scoring around 2.88 goals per game, but they ranked in the top half of the league in shots on goal sitting at 31.4 per game. Although as mentioned they struggle to score so it’s no surprise there 22nd in shooting percentage. The power play is very good though ranking 9th in the NHL, which shouldn’t be a surprise as a lot of their goals come from that power play.

Defense

Defensively Minnesota is very good in the goals conceded statistic, giving up only 2.63 goals per game which is 3rd best in the NHL, which is not much of a surprise as they keep the shots allowed to a minimum. The penalty kill has also been fairly good this season killing 81 percent of penalties but has looked better than that number of late.

Goaltending

Marc Andre Fluery should get the nod in this one he is on an absolute heater right now winning his last 6 starts and on the season has posted a record of 22-13-3 with 2 shutouts. Fluery is currently playing like one of the leagues best right now.
