Boston Celtics vs. Sacramento Kings Prediction, Preview, and Odds Tuesday’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the 20-5 Boston Celtics visited the Golden State Warriors, searching for their sixth consecutive victory. The Celtics just finished a five-game homestand with a couple of wins over the Orlando Magic, 128-111 and 114-97.

Boston held Orlando to 38.2% shooting from the field last Sunday. The Celtics made 47.4% of their field goals (17-for-36 from deep) while outscoring the Magic 44-34 in the paint. Jaylen Brown led the charge for Boston with 31 points and six assists, Jayson Tatum had 23 points and eight rebounds, while Kristaps Porzingis double-doubled with 15 points and ten rebounds.

The Celtics own the fifth-highest offensive rating in the NBA, tallying 119.0 points per 100 possessions. They are third in 2-point percentage (57.5%) and 13th in 3-point percentage (37.2%). Boston allows 109.8 points per 100 possessions (tied-3rd in the league) on 50.1% shooting from inside the arc (2nd) and 36.5% from beyond the 3-point line (14th).

The Sacramento Kings (16-9; 14-11 ATS) have won five of their previous six contests overall. Wednesday’s clash against the Celtics will be the Kings’ fourth consecutive outing on the home floor and over its last three games, Sacramento has defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 128-123, Utah Jazz 125-104, and Washington Wizards 143-131.

The Kings committed just seven turnovers last Monday and had no trouble beating the lowly Wizards, who eventually covered a 14.5-point spread. Domantas Sabonis posted his 35th career triple-double with 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists, while De’Aaron Fox accounted for 30 points and six dishes. The Kings outscored the Wizards 64-46 in the paint and handed out 35 assists.

Sacramento tallies 116.7 points per 100 possessions (13th) on 55.8% shooting from inside the arc (7th) and 36.9% from downtown (16th). The Kings allow 115.8 points in return (tied-18th) on 55.2% shooting from inside the arc (tied-19th) and 37.8% from beyond the 3-point line (tied-23rd).

Insiders Status:

The Celtics lead the NBA in 3-pointers made per 100 possessions (15.9), while the Kings are third in this category (15.2). Both teams lean on 3-point shooting (Boston is first in 3-point rate, and Sacramento is third), so I’m going with the over.

As I’ve mentioned, the Kings will look to speed up things in this matchup and try to find open shots from deep. Neither side defends the 3-point line at a high level, and I would be surprised by a low-scoring affair. The total has gone over in eight of the Kings’ last nine home games.
