B/R Experts Answer Biggest CFB Bowl Season Questions, Part 2

B/R Experts answer the biggest bowl-season questions for games from Tuesday, Dec. 27, through the end of bowl season. The questions are for the games except the New Year's Six contests, which feature two College Football Playoff semifinals.

Washington and Texas are playing in the Alamo Bowl. Washington's Michael Penix Jr. is one of the best quarterbacks in college football. Texas' Quinn Ewers has flashed at times this year. Bijan Robinson won't play. Texas is a 3.5-point favorite. The game should be entertaining. It should also be a good indicator of both teams' playoff hopes heading into next season. They could be playoff candidates entering 2023.

Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras underwent shoulder surgery and Alex Padilla entered the transfer portal. Joey Labas will replace Petra and Carson May as the backup. Kentucky needs to replace NFL-bound starter Will Levis. Kaiya Sheron has served as a backup, but true freshman Destin Wade is also expected to make his college debut. Deuce Hogan, who transferred from Iowa last year, will play for Kentucky.

The Oregon Ducks and North Carolina Tar Heels will play in the Sun Bowl on Wednesday. Bo Nix and Drake Maye will be the quarterbacks for the Ducks. Dorian Thompson-Robinson will probably play for UCLA in Sunbowl against Pittsburgh on Friday. The Sun bowl is a celebration for Thompson Robinson. The team finished the season with a 9-3 record. They were ranked 9th in AP poll. Their defense was 115th out of 131 FBS teams. It's a shootout between Niz and May. Max Escarpio is excited to see the game. David Kenyon is hoping to watch Dorians play.

The Big 12 has a tough draw in bowl season. Oklahoma State is the only team that looks like a winner. Brad Shepard doesn't like any of the Big12's games. David Kenyon believes the league will get swept. i.e. Kansas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Florida State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Texas. Texas is playing in the Alamo Bowl. Florida is in Cheez-It Bowl and OleMiss is at the Texas Bowl, while Texas will play in a bowl.

Adam Kramer has Oregon and he thinks the score could get lopsided. Morgan Moriarty has UNC and Oregon. They are playing a game of quarterbacks. UNC is without Josh Downs, who opted out of the game to prepare for the NFL draft. Phil Longo left UNC to become Wisconsin's new OC and Kenny Dillingham is now the Arizona State head coach.

Notre Dame lost the last game of the regular season, but both teams found their identity later in the campaign. South Carolina finished with back-to-back wins against Tennessee and Clemson. The Gamecocks have been on a hot streak. Notre Dame was on five-game winning streak before losing to USC. The game will be played at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. Brad Shepard likes the Gamecock team to win. Max Escarpio thinks Notre Notre Irish will take a victory back to South Bend.
