Braves Sit Atop The Most Important Set Of MLB Odds

Only one MLB team has surpassed 80 wins at this point: the Atlanta Braves.

They have been excellent for months, even surviving an injury or two with their incredible organizational depth.

With their 81-44 record and +207 run differential, they have been MLB’s premier team to this point.

This is reflected in postseason and World Series odds: when a team is as dominant as Atlanta is, their odds of winning the Fall Classic are quite high.

Codify Baseball published FanGraphs’ rounded World Championship chances.

Unsurprisingly, the Braves are far and away the most likely squad to win it all.

At 26.9 percent odds, the Braves are the likeliest team to lift their second World Series trophy in three years in October/November.

It’s not shocking to see them first.

What’s shocking is how far ahead they are considering the second-place team.

At 14.3 percent, the Los Angeles Dodgers are a distant second on the list.

The American League team with the best odds are the Houston Astros at 11.6 percent.

They are the reigning World Series champs, but oddsmakers don’t think they are in the same stratosphere as the Braves.

Atlanta, simply put, has no weaknesses.

With the return of Max Fried, they have several aces who can miss bats at incredible rates (led by Spencer Strider).

They improved their bullpen at the deadline, and their offense is the best in MLB by a mile.

It boasts two legitimate MVP candidates in Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson, plus Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, Orlando Arcia, Sean Murphy, Travis d’Arnaud, Marcell Ozuna, Eddie Rosario, Michael Harris II, and several others.

It’s a relentless lineup that mercilessly punishes opposing staffs.

With that many resources and quality players at their disposal, it’s not hard to see why the Braves are favorites to win it all.
