Breaking down Week 2 of the 2022 college football schedule

Week 2 of the 2022 edition of college football schedule is on tap. There are 82 games on the schedule, 35 of which are between an FBS school and an FCS team. 15 of 47 games are Power 5 clubs taking on another Power5 club.

There are no games on Thursday night due to the NFL season. There are two games played on Friday at 7:30 pm ET on ESPN2. Alabama at Texas is in the Noon ET block (FOX), Tennessee at (17) Pitt is at 3: 30 pm (ABC), and Kentucky at 12 pm on (ESPN). There is a late night game between Baylor and BYU at 10:15 pm.

Louisville plays UCF on Friday, September 9th at 7:30 pm on ESPN2 and at 9 pm CBSSN on CBS.

Alabama and Texas are predicted to have top-ranked rushing attacks in 2022. Arkansas State is a team that returned five starters to a defense that finished last season ranked No. 95 in the FBS vs. the pass and No 130 against the run. Wake Forest returns six starters from a defensive unit that coughed up 343 passing yards and two scores to FCS Elon in Week 1. Mitch Griffis is the starting quarterback for Wake. Forest. South Carolina plays Arkansas at (16) Arkansas. The game is on ESPN. The other game on the network is between Vanderbilt and (23)

Air Force is expected to be one of the top rushing units in the nation again this year. Colorado returns just five starters to a unit that finished last season ranked No. 96 in FBS vs. the run. Syracuse and UConn have two promising young backs. Stanford is 11-19 since 2019 including skidding to 3-9 last year and has seven starters returning. Uconn's defense was No 108 nationally vs the running game last term. It's a cross-divisional Pac-12 matchup. It features two up-and-coming rushers. The winner will play Stanford. They're 11 and 19 since 2009.
