Breeders’ Cup Distaff Predictions, Best Bets, Odds (Keeneland)
Todd Pletcher's two horses, Nest and Malathaat, are going to the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Keeneland on Saturday. The younger of the two, the 3-year-old daughter of Curlin, has won her last three races without a loss. Last year's champion, Malathiaat won the Spinster Stakes. Steve Asmussen's Clairiere has beaten Malthiaats in two of three attempts. Society is a 3 year- old daughter from Gun Runner.
Todd Pletcher's daughter of Curlin has been spectacular in her last three starts. She has won the CCA Oaks, Alabama and Beldame. Keeneland's older mares will be tough for her on Saturday.
Malathaat is a daughter of Curlin and is coming off a big win in the Grade 1 Spinster over the track. She has been solid this year and has won all three starts at Keeneland. Nest is the second choice behind her.
Clairiere is a trainee. She is going to be the one I play the most after Nest. She offers solid value with all the others to bet. The last two wins over Malathaat had her rated as the top older female in the land.
Chad Brown-trained daughter of Flatter is going to race in Breeders' Cup Distaff. She will go after Society early and then try to hold off the charge of Nest, Malathaat and Clairiere.
Society is coming off a career best last time when winning the Grade 1 Cotillion at Parx. She is trained by Steve Asmussen and has won 5-of-6 lifetime races. Letruska defected and she will be racing against the likes of the fillies and mares above her.
Secret Oath is not in good form lately. She won three stakes races last season, including the Kentucky Oaks. The daughter of Arrogate has run twelve times within the last 12 months and twice against males.
Blue Stripe is a champion in Europe and has won two graded stakes races in California. She won the Breeders’ Cup Distaff last year, but she was off a layoff and running outside Southern California at the time. This year she's back and she won a Grade 1 race at Del Mar in her last race.
Awake at Midnyte is a 3-year-old daughter of Nyquist trained by Doug O'Neill. She has only been able to win a maiden and an allowance in eight career starts. Awake At Midyte has been second in three stakes races, including last time in Grade 2 Zenyatta.
