Captain Guinness is the son of the sprinter/miler Arakan and bred by Arthur Fennelly. Arakan was a successful breeder and raced at up to Group 2 level. He was sold to continue his stud career in France. Captain Guinness's best runner in Ireland or Britain is his dam Celtic Shot. He has sired an equal number of blacktype winners over jumps. His son Brog Deas is a three-time Grade 1 hurdle winner in Italy.

Captain Guinness won a maiden hurdle at Navan as a four-year-old. He has since won four times over fences, including a pair of Grade 3 wins at Naas. Captain Guinness has competed at Grade 1 level, finishing third three times. His foal, Captain Broomfield, sold for €5,000 as three-years- old and has been placed a few times with Emma Lavelle.

Tony Martin trains Brookie (Policy Maker) and his sister Presenting D’Azy. Presentings D'Azzy has three foals: Stoneyford Lady, Policy Maker's foal and a colt foaled by Cape Cross. Jerrysback won the Listed Summer Cup Chase at Uttoxeter for JP McManus.
