Bristol City news and transfers live: Nigel Pearson's press conference, build-up to Norwich City

Hello and welcome to today's live blog.

Nigel Pearson will face the media this afternoon ahead of the visit of Norwich City on Saturday with the Robins hitting an impressive run of form. The City manager will talk about going eight games unbeaten, the new signings and the recent performances of Alex Scott.

We will also get an injury update on Kal Naismith after the defensive midfielder came off injured with a calf issue against Preston. At the time, Pearson admitted he doesn't think it was severe and was replaced as a precaution.

Defender Rob Atkinson will also face questions and it will be intriguing to hear his thoughts on moving to four at the back and his recent run of form, especially after he was left out of the squad around Christmas.

Meanwhile, Bristol City Women pulled off a brilliant 3-1 victory over London City Women last night in a top-of-the-table clash to move them on level points with their rivals.

We'll bring you all the latest news, rumours and quotes across the day so stay tuned and continue scrolling down below.

Alex Scott wins you free-kicks...

Dean Holden 'under consideration' for Huddersfield job

A bit of a surprise managerial link by the Daily Mail who claim that Charlton manager, and former City boss, Dean Holden is "under consideration" by the heirarchy at Huddersfield to replace Mark Fotheringham.

The Scot was sacked yesterday with the Terriers entrenched in the bottom three and Holden's name and Chris Wilder have been linked with the vacancy while Narcis Pelach has been placed in caretaker charge.

Holden has done a good job at Charlton since taking over from Ben Garner in December, with the Addicks now 12th in the table and within striking distance of the play-offs after four wins in their last five games.

The 11 contract decisions City need to make before the summer

Nigel Pearson and Brian Tinnion acted efficienctly over January to ease a lot of the pressure around the number of City players who are on expiring contracts.

However, 11 still remain and while, in some instances, what should transpire seems pretty straightforward, we all know it's not as simple as that.

Saturday's referee

Chris Kavanagh has been selected to take charge of Saturday's game in what will be his 11th match of the season and his first since November.

The Ashton-under-Lyne-based official has issued 40 yellow cards and no reds across 10 games at Premier League, Championship and Europa League level.

It's also his first City match since February 2017 in which he oversaw a 2-2 draw at Newcastle United with Aaron Wilbraham and David Cotterill on the scoresheet.

Dean Holden

Reports in the Daily Mail claim Huddersfield are looking at the former City boss to replace Mark Fotheringham who was sacked earlier this week.

Holden, who was appointed Charlton manager in December, has won four out of his last five at the Addicks.

A look at the bookies odds have Chris Wilder favourite at 5/4 ahead of Narcis Pelach and Neil Warnock. Holden is fourth favourite at 8/1.

A statement win for City Women

Lauren Smith's side are joint top of the Championship after last night's 3-1 win over London City.

Fixture change

Bristol City's clash with Swansea next month has been moved to Sunday 19th March at a 12:30 kick-off at the request of the police...

Timm Klose's coaching path

Timm Klose is considering ending his 16-year playing career and moving into coaching after spending time working with Bristol City's Under-14s before his Ashton Gate exit.

The 34-year-old is back in his hometown of Basel after his contract was mutually terminated on transfer deadline day. Swiss international Klose had fallen out of favour in Nigel Pearson's plans with his final game coming in the Carabao Cup defeat to Lincoln in November.

It's been a difficult six months for Klose. In October, Pearson confirmed the centre-back had returned to Switzerland to deal with some personal issues and also struggled with knee problems towards the beginning of the campaign.

The pass - the finish

Superb play from Aimee Palmer and the finish by Shania Hayles helped City Women to a 3-1 win last night over London City.

Deadly. It moved them level on points at the top of the table with promotion very much in sight.

Antoine Semenyo

The former Bristol City striker and now Bournemouth frontman has been nominated for the Championship Player of the Month for January.

Semenyo scored four goals and assisted one in five games for the Robins before departing for the Premier League.

Kal Naismith's Alex Scott claim

The former Luton man has been speaking about his City team-mate on the Open Goal Podcast where he speaks about Scott's potential to play for a top "four of five" club.

He also compares him to a certain midfield legend...
