On Thursday night, the Brooklyn Nets head to Ball Arena for a road meeting against the Denver Nuggets. The Nets are in action Wednesday and will be on a back-to-back. The Nuggets defeated the Chicago Bulls on the road Tuesday. The tip is at 9:10 PM ET. Denver opens as a home favorite.

Nets on Back-to-Back

Brooklyn is in Phoenix Wednesday night and will be on the second leg of a back-to-back for this inter-conference tilt. Two nights ago, they lost 131-118 against the Sacramento Kings. Brooklyn had won six of seven before the setback. Mikal Bridges led the Nets with 22 points, five assists and five rebounds.

The Kings led comfortably most of the way before the Nets pulled to 110-104 with six minutes left. Sacramento shot 25 of 45 from 3-point range (55.6%), breaking the previous Kings record of 23. “Their ability to kind of climb into us, their aggressiveness on the basketball, away from the basketball, plugging gaps, making our angles tough to read was really good,” Nets coach Jacque Vaughn said after the game. “You saw that in the first half with some of the turnovers and deflected balls.” Bridges has settled into a role as the primary offensive option for Brooklyn this season, and he's been red hot as of late. He has scored at least 20 points in six games in a row, but he's doing it at an efficient rate, making 53.8 percent of his shots over that six-game span. They have a tough matchup against the Champs.

Jokic Tossed, Nuggets Win

The Nuggets persevered Tuesday after some controversy, defeating the Chicago Bulls 114-106. Reggie Jackson scored 25 points and Michael Porter Jr. had 17 points. Aaron Gordon finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Jokic was thrown out for the language he directed toward an official after he felt he was fouled when he missed a reverse layup with just under two minutes left in the first half. He said something in the direction of a referee as he made his way back down the court. Jokic was promptly whistled for a technical and thrown out by official Mousa Dagher. After the game, he declined to get into further details because he wanted to avoid a fine by the NBA. Mark Lindsay, the crew chief for the referee crew, also was vague when asked about the exchange. “We don’t typically publicly get into exactly what a player said, but the language reached the standard for an ejection,” Lindsay told a pool reporter. The rest of the Nuggets picked up the slack, with Reggie Jackson hitting five threes. They also played without Murray, who had 29 points and nine rebounds in Monday night's win. Murray has been dealing with a sore right ankle.

Rating:

Jamal Murray missed Denver’s last game with a sore right ankle, and the Nuggets will be cautious with him managing the injury. Jokic was tossed Tuesday night against the Chicago Bulls in what was a quick trigger from the officials. Look for a big bounce-back spot for Jokic at home, and with Murray back in the fold, this will be an efficient game for Denver. Reggie Jackson will fill the void nicely if Murray is limited, as he nailed five threes last game and will get a slew of open shots with Jokic angered from the ejection last game. I expect the Nuggets to blow Brooklyn out, with the Joker delivering an epic performance against a Brooklyn team 19th in defensive rating. Take the Nuggets.

Rating:

Brooklyn is in Phoenix Wednesday night and will be on the second leg of a back-to-back for this inter-conference tilt. Two nights ago, they lost 131-118 against the Sacramento Kings in a fast-paced game. They are in the middle of a Western Conference road trip and face a Nuggets team angry at the events leading to Jokic’s ejection Tuesday. Denver is 27th in pace entering this contest and may be without Jamal Murray who is dealing with right ankle soreness. Bridges scored 22 points and have topped 20 in six straight contests, but that may come to an end in Denver. I like this to be a low-scoring, slow-moving game with Jokic directing traffic all night en route to a potential triple-double. Take the under.

Prediction: UNDER
