Bruins, FanDuel announce mobile betting partnership

BOSTON (WPRI) — With mobile sports betting officially live in Massachusetts, FanDuel announced a multi-year partnership with the Boston Bruins.

Six mobile sportsbooks, including FanDuel, launched Friday morning in the Bay State.

“Massachusetts is home to some of the most passionate fan bases across the country and we’re excited to enhance their viewing experience with the launch of the FanDuel Sportsbook app,” said Mike Raffensperger, Chief Commercial Officer of FanDuel Group.

“Bruins fans are the true embodiment of that passion and we look forward to supporting the team this season and beyond,” Raffensperger continued.

Sports betting in Massachusetts became legal back in January, but betting on the go wasn’t available right away.

When it comes to college sports, bets cannot be placed on any Massachusetts schools unless they are playing in a tournament involving four or more teams.

“It’s a state we’ve been looking forward to launching because of its sports fandom. It has some iconic sports teams,” FanDuel General Manager Karol Corcoran told 12 News earlier this week.

Back in January, State Treasurer Deb Goldberg said the state expects to generate anywhere from $35 million to $50 million from sports betting.
