Caesars Sportsbook app goes live in Mass. ahead of online betting launch

BOSTON — The virtual books may not open until March but sports fans eager to be among the first to place legal online bets in Massachusetts can get a head start.

The Caesars Sportsbook app is now available to download. Fans who signup in the app ahead of the March 10 launch date for online betting will also receive $100 in bet credits.

The Caesars Sportsbook is also set to launch a physical location at Raynham Park pending the approval of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

In-person sports betting in Massachusetts went live on January 31.

Lawmakers estimate sports betting could generate about $60 million in annual tax revenue and $70 million to $80 million in initial licensing fees, which must be renewed every five years. The law includes a 15% tax on in-person wagering and 20 percent tax on mobile wagering.

While the law allows betting on college sports, wagering on in-state colleges and universities won’t be allowed unless those schools are playing in a national tournament, including the NCAA basketball tournaments.

People must be 21 years or older to bet.
