When will sports betting launch in Mass.? Regulators say next year
Sports betting was legalized in Massachusetts over the summer. Regulators have to prepare regulations for both in-person and mobile sports betting. 15 companies applied for a license from a pool of 30 businesses. The applications were due on Nov. 21. Encore Boston Harbor, Plainridge Park Casino and MGM Springfield will operate one online platform and one mobile platform. Caesars Interactive Entertainment will take over one of the platforms. The commission will release the applications publicly. It is still unknown when the timeline for posting them is being worked out.
