Cal Football Preview: Bears at No. 9 USC Saturday Night

Cal lost to No. 8 Oregon last week. Cal faces No 9 USC and quarterback Caleb Williams on Saturday night.

Cal is 3-5, 1-4 in Pac-12 and No. 9 USC is 7-1, 5-0 in the Pac 12. They play each other at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum on Saturday night.

Quarterback Jack Plummer is expected to play against No. 9 USC. CB Lu-Magia Hearns III, ILB Blake Antzoulatos and OLB Braxten Croteau are day-to-day and are questionable for the USC game.

Jordan Addison and Mario Williams are questionable for the game against No. 9 USC.

Cal has lost four straight games. The Bears are 0-3 on the road and 1-8 away from home since the start of the 2021 season. Cal allowed a season-high 42 points and a game-long 586 yards to Oregon last week.

USC is ranked No. 9 in both the AP poll and the CFP rankings. The Trojans are second in the Pac-12 and eighth in country in scoring offense. They are seventh in Pac 12 in total defense, but they have allowed 80 points in last two games. Quarterback Caleb Williams has 24 touchdown passes for the season and has thrown just one interception. Running back Travis Dye has run for more than 100 yards five times this season. Wide receivers Tahj Washington and Kyle Ford had more 100 receiving yards in their last game.
