Edmonton Oilers (0-1) vs Vancouver Canucks (1-0)

Game Info: Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 10:00 pm (Rogers Place)

Betting Odds: Edmonton Oilers -220 / Vancouver Canucks +180 --- Over/Under: 6.5

The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers face off on Saturday in an NHL showdown at Rogers Place. These two teams faced off on Wednesday with the Canucks secured the 8-1 victory.

Canucks Offense Melting The Ice

The Canucks faced off against the Edmonton Oilers in the first game of the season and they sure looked impressive. The Canucks offense scored eight goals against the Edmonton Oilers and that was enough to secure the seven goal victory. Brock Boeser finished with eight shots on goal and four goals. JT Miller and Elias  Pettersson finished with one goal and three shots on goal. Quinn Hughes finished with three assists. In this game the Canucks are going to need the offense to be good here.

Oilers Defense already Leaking?

The Oilers have high expectations for this season but if they want to be competitive, the defense is going to need to be a lot better here. Jack Campbell and Stuart Skinner both faced 16 shots and both gave up four goals. Leon Draisaitl was the only goal scorer and he found the back of the net once. Connor McDavid did have an assist, but only two shots on goal and they need the offense to be better here. Most importantly in this game though, the defense is going to need to find a way to get going.

Shane’s Free Pick

The first game between these two teams was high scoring, and that is going to be the difference here. The Canucks offense is going to find success here, and they are going to run up the score early. I do also expect the Oilers offense to find more success here, and they are also going to score four or five goals. This is a game that could have 12 or 13 goals total  scored and this game is going to be a shootout. Back the over.
