The Washington Capitals hit the road, a three game west coast adventure beginning tonight against the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena for the second and final meeting between the teams this season.
The Caps fell to the Coyotes 3-2 on Nov. 5 at Capital One Arena in the debut of the Reverse Retro jerseys. Alex Ovechkin scored in that game to pass Gordie Howe’s mark of the most goals scored with one team.
The Caps have a record of 37-31-12-4 all time against Arizona. Last season the Caps swept the series by winning both games. They shut out the Coyotes in both contests. John Carlson led the Caps with three points against the Coyotes last season with two goals and an assist.
The Caps have won eight of their last nine road games dating back to Dec. 5 with an 8-1-0 mark. They’ve won seven straight road games from Dec. 5 to Jan. 5, which established a new franchise record.
The Caps shuffled their lines last game by benching Anthony Mantha and inserting Nicolas Aube Kubel to the top line. Who knows what they got up their sleeves tonight.
