Cavaliers vs. Rockets prediction and odds for Thursday, January 26 (Value on Houston?)

fansided.com

The Cleveland Cavaliers are on the road once again on Thursday, this time to take on the Houston Rockets and Jalen Green in Houston.

The Rockets are on the second night of a back-to-back after losing to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday and are losers of 13 of their last 14 despite beating the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.

Cleveland lost its last game to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, falling to just 9-15 on the road this season.

The key injury to keep an eye on is Cavs’ star guard Donovan Mitchell, who is questionable with a groin injury.

Houston has been brutal against the spread lately, but it has gone over. 500 as a home dog this season. Are the Rockets worth a bet?

Here are my thoughts on this game and the latest odds:

Cavaliers vs. Rockets prediction and pick

The Cavs have a back-to-back, with a matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on the docket for tomorrow.

OKC is a much better team than Houston, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Cavs hold out Mitchell in this game so he can play on Friday.

Even if Mitchell does play, the Cavs have struggled on the road all season long, going 5-8-2 against the spread as road favorites.

Houston, on the other hand, is 10-9-2 as home dogs, keeping those games within an average margin of less than four points.

The Rockets’ advanced numbers aren’t good, but they could be worth a bet, especially if you buy into Mitchell potentially missing this game.

Cleveland is just 3-5 without Mitchell this season, so I’ll lean with Houston early on Thursday.
