Challenge of Sharp Rise in Pakistan’s Population
Pakistan's population is estimated at over 220 million. The annual fertility rate is 3.6 children per couple. According to the 2017 census, women in Pakistan make up 48.76% of the total population. Riaz Bibi, 39, is a mother of seven children and lives in a remote village of Faisalabad. She was unaware of use of contraceptives in her marriage. Marie Stopes Society is promoting healthy timing and spacing of births. The organisation promotes healthy births and healthy families. It has launched several reproductive health service channels to serve the poor.
