The opening matchday of this week pits together several intriguing teams with an abundance of exciting matches taking place.
Newcastle take part in their first Champions League match since 2003 in one of the early kick offs on Tuesday as they travel to the San Siro to take on AC Milan in a group also containing PSG and Borussia Dortmund, who meet in Paris.
Last season’s European champions Manchester City start the defence of their title with a home match against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night, while Celtic are also in action in Group E with a visit to Rotterdam to take on Feyenoord.
Wednesday night sees Arsenal in Champions League action for the first time since 2017, with PSV making the trip to North London, while Bayern Munich and Manchester United come to blows at the Allianz Arena in arguably the standout fixture of the week.
Two teams will be making their Champions League debuts this season, with Union Berlin of Germany and Royal Antwerp of Belgium never having reached the group stage before, and they start their campaigns away at Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
