Pep Guardiola’s men have won five on the bounce ahead of their clash with Chelsea, and reclaimed their place at the top of the Premier League following a 6-1 triumph over Bournemouth last week

The champions will be aiming for a fourth Premier League win in a row to retain their lead at the top of the table heading into the two-week international break.

Looking at the , Guardiola’s men are strong favourites for the clash. Here are our Chelsea vs Manchester City predictions for Sunday’s showdown.

Although City have reclaimed their place at the top of the Premier League, their form on the road has not been outstanding this season.

Guardiola’s men suffered back-to-back away defeats to Wolves and Arsenal before rallying for the Manchester derby to beat rivals Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Even their win at Sheffield United required a late strike from Rodri to secure the three points, while they also trailed at West Ham to a James Ward-Prowse effort before responding in the second half.

On the other side of the coin, Chelsea have struggled to find the net at home, failing to score in three of their matches at the Bridge, including a 2-0 defeat to Brentford last time out.

However, Pochettino’s men have put forward stronger performances against the better sides, earning a point apiece against Liverpool and Arsenal.

City will likely control possession, but it may give Chelsea the chance to use the pace of Raheem Sterling and Jackson on the counter. The champions have only kept two clean sheets on the road this term, so Chelsea could get their goal.

But, City are firing on all cylinders as Erling Haaland is back on the goal trail. He has scored in four of his last five outings, including braces in both fixtures with Young Boys and in the Manchester derby.

Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and Bernardo Silva have also been active in the final third.

So, we’re backing both teams to score and for City to emerge with the win at 5/2 with .

Phil Foden is enjoying one of the best spells of his career in front of goal, scoring in his last three games.

The England international found the net to effectively end the contest in the Manchester derby and was on point against Bournemouth and Young Boys too.

Guardiola would dearly love the 23-year-old to become even more potent in the final third.

The arrival of Doku has added an extra dimension to the City attack, and has certainly eased the pressure on Foden to carry the ball in and around the box.

It has allowed Foden to take positions where he can have a better sight at goal, which has been reflected in his improved shooting statistics.

He has averaged 2.4 shots per game and has the best expected goals (xG) of his career of 0.34. Of course, the presence of Haaland helps draw attention away from his teammate too, and the Norwegian will certainly be the focus of Chelsea’s defensive gameplan.

So, we’re backing Foden to continue his form in front of goal and score at any time at odds of 10/3 with BoyleSports

Raheem Sterling has been left out of the England squad for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia as Gareth Southgate has once again overlooked the Chelsea forward.

If Sterling didn’t have enough motivation heading into Sunday’s game against his former club, he certainly has more fuel for the fire now.

Sterling’s form has been solid enough, although he has hardly produced the statistics of other leading players in the final third at Southgate’s disposal.

He did provide an assist for Jackson in the 4-1 win over Tottenham, while it could have been even more had the Blues not been wasteful in front of goal.

Chelsea’s prowess in the final third is a concern for Pochettino, and Sterling has not been overly productive, scoring three goals in 11 league games. Two of those came in the 3-0 win over Luton in the second game of the campaign.

Sterling has had 21 attempts at goal, and seven have struck the target.

With our final Chelsea vs Manchester City prediction, we’re backing Sterling to have over 0.5 shots on target at 5/4 with .
