Chelsea want ‘the Gambian Hurricane’ for bargain transfer fee but face fight with Premier League rivals

CHELSEA hope to whip up a storm with the signing of the “Gambian Hurricane.”

But they face a fight from several Premier League rivals for football’s latest top young talent.

Adama Bojang, 18, set the AFCON U20s tournament alight in March with four goals for The Gambia.

The striker, who idolises Cristiano Ronaldo, still plays in his homeland for Steve Biko FC.

And he is now attracting interest from numerous top English sides.

The Mail claims Chelsea are leading the race to sign Bojang, known as the “Gambian Hurricane” by fans.

Standing 6ft 3in tall, the forward has power and speed in abundance.

And many are already comparing him to Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen, who is also on Chelsea’s radar this summer.

Todd Boehly has made no secret of his desire to bring the world’s top starlets to Stamford Bridge.

And Bojang fits the bill, even though he would need to immediately leave on loan until he can secure a work permit.

But Chelsea face a battle to land the teen hitman.

Rivals Tottenham are big fans as they plan for life without Harry Kane.

Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest also like the look of Bojang, who is valued at a bargain £650,000.

And there is interest from other European clubs too, with Marseille, Ajax and Royal Antwerp also keeping tabs.

Reflecting on a future move, Bojang said: “I’ve heard about the news and I am excited about it.

“It boosts my morale. I’m focusing more on consistency which motivates me a lot, because seeing such clubs following you is a great feeling.

“Through consistency it will make them hungrier for me.

“I want to be like Cristiano Ronaldo, because he’s my favourite when it comes to the big name players.

“I’ve been watching his videos on YouTube after games. He posts his workout there so sometimes I try to watch those and motivate myself through that.”
